Nevertheless, it still challenge procure sizeable proportion individuals microdeletion, even when meticulous measures employed. The objective study identify predictive factors retrieval in microdeletion. METHODS: 76 infertile were studied, each having at some time during 10-year period, as confirmed multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification STS (sequence tagged site). For patient, endocrine profile including serum follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing (LH), total testosterone (TT), prolactin (PRL) estradiol (E2) was recorded, along intratesticular level (ITT), age testicular size. further analyzed determine key predictors retrieval. RESULTS: Of 56 classified non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA), 8 cryptozoospermia, 12 severe oligoasthenoteratozoospermia (OAT). azoospermia, 50 received microdissection TESE (mTESE), 37 those cases (74 %). A significantly lower FSH (P = 0.02) found patients whom could be successfully retrieved. On other hand, parameters such levels LH, TT, PRL, E2, volume not correlated recovery. area under receiving operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC) determined 0.721. Using an cut-off point 12.95 mIU/mL according Youden’s index, model predicting 51.4% sensitivity, 84.6% specificity, 90.5% positive value (PPV) 37.9% negative (NPV). CONCLUSIONS: Men exhibiting discernible spermatogenesis retrieved mTESE generally presented levels. Detection of sperm in men with Y chromosome microdeletions of the AZFa, AZFb and AZFc regions.

BACKGROUND Y chromosome microdeletions are associated with severe male factor infertility. In this study, the success rate of testicular sperm retrieval was determined for men with deletions of AZF regions a, b or c. METHODS AZF deletions were detected by PCR of 30 sequence-tagged sites within Yq emphasizing the AZFa, b and c regions. Semen analysis and diagnostic testis biopsy or testicular ...

Prevalence of chromosomal abnormalities and Y chromosome microdeletion among men with severe semen abnormalities and its correlation with successful sperm retrieval

AIM To estimate the prevalence of chromosomal abnormalities and Y chromosome microdeletion among men with azoospermia and severe oligozoospermia and its correlation with successful surgical sperm retrieval. SETTING AND DESIGN A prospective study in a tertiary level infertility unit. MATERIALS AND METHODS In a prospective observation study, men with azoospermia and severe oligozoospermia (co...

Detection of Y Chromosome Microdeletion is Valuable in the Treatment of Patients With Nonobstructive Azoospermia and Oligoasthenoteratozoospermia: Sperm Retrieval Rate and Birth Rate

PURPOSE We evaluated clinical characteristics, sperm retrieval rates, and birth rates in a relatively large number of infertile patients with Y chromosome microdeletions. MATERIALS AND METHODS We retrospectively reviewed clinical data from 213 patients with nonobstructive azoospermia (NOA) and 76 patients with oligoasthenoteratozoospermia (OATS) who were tested for Y chromosome microdeletion ...

Loss of the AZFc region due to a human Y-chromosome microdeletion in infertile male patients.

Infertility is a major reproductive health threat; the frequency of male infertility due to Y-chromosome microdeletions is 13-18% in the human population; these microdeletions involve recurrent loss of three non-overlapping regions designated as AZFa, AZFb and AZFc, associated with spermatogenic failure. Several contradictory reports have been published regarding deletion frequency based on seq...

Molecular Study of Partial Deletions of AZFc Region of the Y Chromosome in Infertile Men

Background & Aims: The most significant cause of infertility in men is the genetic deletion in the azoospermia factor (AZF) region that is caused by the process of intra- and inter-chromosomal homologous recombination in amplicons. Homologous recombination could also result in partial deletions in AZF region. The aim of this research was to determine the association between the partial AZFc del...
